Growing demand in NZ to ban engineered stone

A few months ago Australia become the first country to ban engineered stone. Now calls for a similar ban are gaining momentum in New Zealand.

There is growing concern about the use of silica-containing artificial stone - used to make counter tops for kitchens & bathrooms.

Silica dust when inhaled can cause permanent damage to the lungs and silicosis, health practitioners say.

It can take up to 10 years after exposure for symptoms of silicosis to appear.

Do you think such discussions and bans will follow around the world?
