‘Indo-China conflict, recession hit quarry business in Chamarajanagar’

An article was recently published in the Deccan Herald newspaper about the slowdown of exports from the state over the last one year that has affected the industry.

The article quotes FIGSI General Secretary Sri S Krishna Prasad as saying, “The business has come down by 40% to 50% over the last one year. Hence, we have slowed down production in quarries. China is the major customer of granite products and the stones were exported from Andhra Pradesh. The tension between the two countries has affected the industry badly.”

FIGSI Vice President and President, Chamrajanagar District Granite Quarry Owners’ Association Sri GM Hegde added, “The war between Russia and Ukraine, the Israel-Palestine conflict have also affected the market."
